Meet Dr. Grotting

Dr. Grotting is the author of a major two-volume textbook in Plastic Surgery entitled Reoperative Aesthetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery which has helped plastic surgeons around the world learn the latest techniques in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. Due to his widely acclaimed expertise, Dr. Grotting is often asked to speak at symposia in countries around the world including England, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Greece, Japan, Russia, Mexico and the Philippines. Dr. Grotting has made trips to the Philippines, Kenya, Thailand, Romania, Morocco, Brazil and Moscow with the OPERATION SMILE organization. As a part of these charitable endeavors he has taught flap workshops, educating physicians in the latest surgical techniques as well as performing free surgery on those in need.

Dr. Grotting has numerous invited professorships and lectureships to his credit and has published extensively in the plastic surgery literature.

Dr. James C. Grotting and his family have made Birmingham Their home since 1985. As a full-time member of the academic faculty at University of Alabama at Birmingham he attained the rank of full professor of plastic surgery and has been listed in all editions of "The Best Doctors in America" (Woodward/White, Inc., 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995). Dr. Grotting is also listed in "Best Doctors in America: Southeast Region" (Woodward/White, Inc., 1996). He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Grotting is a member of the prestigious American Association of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

In 1996, Dr. Grotting entered the private practice community with a vision to develop a practice based upon the highest standards of patient care and surgical expertise.

He and his wife, Ann, have two boys, Jimmy and Ben.
