FAQ

Breast reduction or Reduction Mammoplasty is among the most popular procedures in plastic surgery with a consistently high patient satisfaction rate. The procedure removes excessive breast tissue and reshapes and lifts the breast mound and the nipples. The procedure is usually very effective in relieving pain in the shoulders, neck, and back resulting from the excessive weight and ptosis (sag) of the breasts. The main disadvantage of the procedure is that in order to decrease the size and reshape the breasts it’s necessary to remove skin and this results in scarring. The typical scar pattern is often referred to as an inverted ‘T’ or ‘anchor’ scar because it goes around the nipple, vertically down and then transversely at the fold under the breast. In many but not all cases a shorter scar technique is possible and this can be determined at your consultation visit.
